U.S. Embassy participates in the Holocaust Memorial Day Commemoration
On Thursday, January 26, Public Affairs Officer Marjut Robinson participated in the 2012 Holocaust Memorial Day Commemoration. The annual event was organized by the Finnish Holocaust Remembrance Association, which was established in 1993 for the purpose of distributing information about anti-Semitism and combating racial hatred.

American Resource Center Announces the ARC Scholarship 2011 Recipient
Ms. Paula Siltanen of the Department of Political Science at the University of Tampere has been selected as the winner of the 2011 ARC Scholarship. The title of her Master’s Thesis is “The concept of otherness / alterity in the foreign policy rhetorics of President Barack Obama.”

Native American lecture series comes to its conclusion
Since the beginning of October the American Resource Center has run a lecture series about the Native American Indians at the National Library. The topics have varied from major battles to education and from the history of medicine bundles to the legal confrontations in the 20th century. The eight lectures were all inspirational and attracted wide, enthusiastic crowds. The last two lectures were held on November 22nd and 29th.
