May 15, 2008 Finland announced its intentions to join the Methane to Markets Partnership (M2M), an international initiative that advances cost-effective, near-term methane recovery and use as a clean energy source. April 23, 2008. Kaitaan koulu from Espoo has won the art competition for Finnish 9th graders to create a work of art using recycled materials with their piece “Alaska”; the theme of the art piece is U.S. National Parks.

Earth Day Celebrated in Finland
April 22, 2008 To celebrate Earth Day, Embassy Helsinki organized a clean up of Helsinki's oldest park, Kaivopuisto Park. The event was a huge success, drawing over 40 people from the Embassy and diplomats from the Embassies of Bulgaria, Estonia, Norway, Sweden, and Ukraine.
