Contract Opportunities - Casework in the Kitchen

The U.S. Embassy Helsinki has a requirement for a contractor to replace casework in the kitchen of the U.S. Embassy in Helsinki.  The work will consist of:

BASE BID

• Removal of existing base cabinets and countertops.

• Installation of new base cabinets and countertops as specified in this document.

• Removal and re-installation of granite counter on existing island and around stove.

• All preparations and cleaning needed.

• All shipping and delivery charges shall be a part of the work.

• All materials, supplies and labor as needed for a complete project.

ALTERNATE ONE

• Removal of wall cabinets and shelving.

• Installation of new wall cabinets.

• All preparations and cleaning needed.

• All shipping and delivery charges shall be a part of the work.

• All materials, supplies and labor as needed for a complete project.

ALTERNATE TWO

• Installation of new LED under-counter lighting at all wall cabinets.

• Installation of dimmable controls for lighting.

• All preparations and cleaning needed.

• All shipping and delivery charges shall be a part of the work.

• All materials, supplies and labor as needed for a complete project.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

The Contractor shall provide a quantity of construction personnel, equipment, materials, tools and supervision as needed to complete the services and technical requirements in the Statement of Work (SOW).  It is expected that the Contractor shall partner closely with Embassy personnel.

The Contractor must be approved by the casework and countertop material suppliers to install their product.

The Contractor shall designate and make available a representative to meet with the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) weekly to discuss the Progress Report, or other matters pertaining to the Project. 

The contractor shall follow up all telephone conversations affecting the scope of work with an email summary of the conversation sent to the COR. 

2.4 All work shall be executed in a diligent manner in accordance with a negotiated firm fixed price and performance period.  

CONSTRUCTION SERVICES

The Contractor shall survey the area where construction will take place and become thoroughly familiarized with the existing conditions and conditions that will affect the construction.

The Contractor shall be responsible for all permit requirements, licensing requirements, and the quality and availability of materials, sub-contractors, and equipment that may be needed to execute the contract.

The Contractor shall inspect and evaluate all available drawings and specifications pertaining to the project.

The Contractor shall field verify all dimensions for construction relevant to the project.

All materials and equipment incorporated into the project shall be brand new. The Contractor shall transport and safeguard all materials and equipment required for construction as instructed by the manufacturer’s instructions. The casework and countertops shall meet the following requirements:

• The casework shall be Novart, A LA Carte or equal. Casework doors to be acrylic, gloss finish, equal to Inverno 161.  Casework to be mounted on standard height, exposed, decorative aluminum legs.  Island to be mounted on taller than standard, exposed, decorative aluminum legs.

• The countertops shall be Silestone or equal, style to match Silestone Stellar Negro.

• Contractor to provide and install Blanco Blancozerox 700 or equal sink and Blanco Blancomaster-S faucet or equal.

• Contractor to provide white glass backsplashes at all for all casework.

• Contractor shall provide aluminum linear door pulls, style to be approved by owner.

The Contractor shall provide temporary countertops while final countertops are being made.  

The Contractor shall at all times keep the work area free from accumulation of waste materials.  Upon completing construction, the Contractor shall remove all temporary facilities and leave the project site in a clean and orderly condition acceptable to Post. Any repair of damage caused as a result of this project will be the responsibility of the Contractor.
