Political Section Chief Greg Thome Briefs American Chamber of Commerce's Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC)
On September 19, in the wake of the Lebanon crisis, the American Chamber of Commerce's OSAC invited Political Section Chief Gregory Thome to join Juha Markkanen of the Finnish Foreign Ministry and OSAC members for an exchange of views on the situation in the Middle East and its impact on Finnish business. Mr. Thome offered an overview of US policy toward the Middle East and Iran, stressing the importance of reaching out to Muslim moderates and of ensuring that Europe and the United States remain united in their efforts to help resolve conflicts in the region. Finland's OSAC members contributed their own perspectives as part of a broad and useful discussion.
