Public Affairs Officer William Davnie Visits Haukilahti School

Public Affairs Officer William Davnie joined League of Finnish-American Societies (SAYL) Executive Director Laura Noreila-Manninen and American Resource Center Director Liisa Kujanpää in a visit to Haukilahti School in Espoo on Friday, Sept 23, to discuss a new course on the United States. Haukilahti School history teachers Pia Jussila and Birger Holm will offer an elective course to ninth-graders starting in January, 2006. The course will include role plays, multi-media presentations, a visit to the U.S. Embassy, and projects which students will be able to choose to accumulate the needed number of points for the course. The Embassy and the League will provide print and video materials and photo displays as course enrichment materials. The Haukilahti School and teachers plan to make this course and its materials available to other schools in Espoo in the future. The U.S. Embassy plans to support this effort.
