Discover America!
On October 25th, U.S. Ambassador Marilyn Ware offered welcoming remarks at the eighteenth annual Discover America Seminar in Helsinki. The only major event in Finland specifically promoting the United States as a travel destination, the Seminar consisted of presentations and workshops on American city attractions. More than 100 people -- professional travel managers, tour operators, and travel journalists -- attended this event, organized by the Discover America Committee of Finland, in partnership with the Embassy’s Commercial, Consular, and Public Affairs Sections. Consular Section Chief Pirkko Urli explained Embassy and other U.S. Government entities’ roles as this pertains to travelers who visit the United States. The Embassy also presented the State Department’s new video, “Welcome: Portraits of America,” which was produced by Disney.
