Intellectual Property Rights Workshop for Police and Prosecutors in Helsinki

The Economic Section Helsinki, in cooperation with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) hosted a "Criminal Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights in the Digital Environment” workshop for Police, Prosecutors, and Government officials in Helsinki, April 28-29, 2009. This rare two-day workshop brought together 60 Finnish, Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Russian, UK and U.S. law enforcement officials, prosecutors, intellectual property experts and industry representatives to discuss and share knowledge and practical experiences of effective investigation and prosecution of both copyright piracy in the electronic environment and trademark counterfeiting over the internet. The workshop was the fourth USPTO funded IPR event in the region since 2006, and the first of five new annual IPR events for the Baltic region.
