ARC Celebrates 60th Anniversary with a Concert
On May 17, Ambassador Marilyn Ware and Chancellor Kari Raivio from the University of Helsinki paid tribute to the American Resource Center’s role in providing a window on the United States for students, scholars, journalists, politicians, and anyone interested in North American studies. Ambassador Ware also announced an American Embassy grant to a Finnish student with the most interesting ‘gradu’ proposal connected with the United States and who plans to use the ARC in his or her research. Juho Laitinen, Anu Vehviläinen and Hannu Vasara gave a concert of American chamber music featuring the following composers: Elliott Carter, Morton Feldman and Charles Ives.
