The Art and Science of Vanishing Glaciers

World renowned nature photographer James Balog visited Finland October 26-30 to talk about his work which documents the changes in glaciers all over the world.  Mr. Balog and his team have put together a video, based on multi-year time-lapse photography, that dramatically displays the current, ongoing melting of ice in the arctic region and elsewhere.  It is a stunning demonstration of the reality of global warming happening now.  Mr. Balog presented his “Extreme Ice Survey” material to university students and staff in Oulu, Tampere and the University of Helsinki, Viikki Campus.  He also visited Finnish businesses , gave interviews to the Finnish media and visited Haukilahti Lukio high-school to speak about “The Art and Science of Vanishing Glaciers.”  Mr. Balog’s EIS study has been featured in the New Yorker and National Geographic.
