AmCham Finland hosted an election watch on November 6, 2008.  Ambassador Barrett was joined by Finnish President Tarja Halonen and Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb.  Ambassador Barrett noted that as chairman of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations subcommittee on European Affairs, President-elect Obama studied Finland in connection with her appointment.  About the election, she remarked “This is a proud and historic day for America.”
