FAQs

Children

May I bring my child/children to the consulate when I am interviewed?

Many families apply for visas, but the only individuals that are required to appear before a consular officer are those that are over 14 and under 80 years old. You may bring your children to the interview with you, but for everyone’s comfort in the waiting room, we suggest you make other arrangements for them while you are at the Embassy for your interview.

My child/children were born in the United States, do they need visas?

No. If your children were born in the US, it is likely that they qualify for US citizenship. If they are documented US citizens, then they should travel to the US using their own US passport. If they are not yet documented and you believe they may qualify for US citizenship, please contact our American Citizen Services Unit to discuss your situation in detail.
