Fees

Visa processing fees effective April 13, 2012

The Machine Readable Visa (MRV) fee is determined by a tiered structure with different fees for different visa categories.

The visa application fee is non-refundable.

All visa applicants* (Finnish and non-Finnish citizens) are required to pre-pay the MRV fee in Euros to the Nordea Bank account:

# FI20 2219 1800 0166 29.

You must bring the receipt, which will not be returned to you and which constitutes your proof of payment, with you to the interview.

The receipt must state the visa applicant's name (message field - viestikenttä) and the archive ID number (arkistointitunnus).

Please see the chart below to view application fee amounts by visa category:

Fees
Visa Type $ fee € amount to be paid
Non-petition-based nonimmigrant visa: (B, C, D, F, I, J and M category visas) $160 €128.00
H, L, O, P, Q and R category nonimmigrant visa $190 €152.00
E category nonimmigrant visa $270 €216.00
K category immigrant visa $240 €192.00

(Government and Official applicants applying for A and G visas via Diplomatic Notes are exempt from the MRV fee)

RECIPROCITY FEES: Non-Finnish citizens may be subject to bilateral Reciprocity Fees that will be assessed if their visa application is approved. Non-Finnish citizens should review the Reciprocity Schedule to determine if these fees apply. If they do, only the cashier at the Embassy will be able to accept payment in cash or with major credit cards (Euros or US dollars). Do not pay the Reciprocity Fees to the Nordea account listed above.

Nonimmigrant visa applicants who paid the MRV fee before April 13, may use the MRV fee receipt to apply for a visa up to and including July 12, 2012.  Please note that were there is a decrease in fees, there will be no refund, regardless of when the application is received.

The increase in nonimmigrant visa fees is attributed to fact that the Department of State  is required to recover, as far as possible, the cost of processing visas through the collection of application fees.  The nonimmigrant visa fee increase will support the addition and expansion of overseas facilities, as well as additional staffing required to meet increased visa demand.

Because of a reallocation of costs associated with immigrant visas, however, all categories of immigrant visa processing fees have decreased from April 13, 2012.
