If you are not entitled to an employment-based or family-based green card, the most common way to obtain a green card is via the diversity visa lottery.
The application period for the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program (Visa Lottery) usually takes place during the fall each year. You may access the information on the diversity visa lottery at the Department of State's website. After December, please note that the information may refer to the application period that has just ended, and you will not be able to submit an online application. In that event, try again in September.
