Non-Immigrant Visas
Fiancé or Alien Spouse Visas
American Citizens who are engaged to be married to a foreign national inside the United States should apply for a K-1, or fiancé(e) visa. There is an extensive list of requirements for this type of visa as the beneficiary is an intending immigrant to the US. Please review the application requirements enumerated on the Department of State’s travel web page.
American Citizens who are already married to a foreign national and were married in the Finnish Consular district may apply for a K-3 visa. There is also a long list of requirements for K-3 spouses and their dependents listed at the Department of State’s travel web page.
Applications for K visas are initiated by the American Citizen Petitioner in the US. Once the approved petition is received at the Consulate in Helsinki, applicants will be mailed an application packet listing all requirements. The packet includes the needed forms DS-230 and DS-156K.
For further information on how to file for a fiancé visa please see under Immigrant Visas.
