Non-Immigrant Visas

Treaty Trader or Investor Visas

Under the Treaty of Friendship, Commerce, and Consular Rights between the United States of America and the Republic of Finland, nationals of either country may operate a business in the other. Finnish persons and corporations who wish to establish operations in the United States must meet the requirements as set forth in the Immigration and Nationality Act. There are two categories of visas under this visa classification: treaty traders (E-1) and treaty investors (E-2). To learn more about the requirements, please visit www.travel.state.gov.

In every treaty visa case, both the company’s and the applicant’s eligibility will be reviewed. A checklist can be found on the last page of the DS-156E form.

In addition to the other requirements for visa applicants, E-1 and E-2 applicants must fill out the DS-156E form.

To initiate the application process, all E-visa applicants are required to send an email to HelsinkiEvisas@state.gov.

Important Note

Scheduling an Interview

E-visa applicants can NOT schedule their interview with our online service, instead they need to contact the E-Visa Unit at HelsinkiEvisas@state.gov.
